Senior Accountant
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Accountant who is CA qualified, to play a pivotal role in our growing, modern Chartered Accounting firm.
Key responsibilities include:
- preparing accounts, tax returns and management reports
- reviewing jobs
- building trusted client relationships
- providing day-to-day client support
- sharing knowledge and mentoring other team members
For the right person, this role offers a pathway to ownership.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation of recent, hands-on taxation and accounting experience, along with strong interpersonal skills, and a proactive, client-focused approach that delivers strong, meaningful relationships.
Our ideal candidate:
Is CA qualified (preferred) with 5+ years of experience in a New Zealand accounting firm.
Demonstrates a strong understanding of compliance requirements and NZ tax legislation
Loves building relationships and is at ease communicating with a diverse range of people.
Fluent in Xero
Is tech-savvy and comfortable learning new systems
Has fantastic attention to detail

Administrator
This is a great opportunity to join MAQ’s admin team showcasing your excellent customer service and organisational skills. This role is perfect for a systems thinker who enjoys keeping things “ship shape”. We’re a friendly, supportive team looking for someone with energy, initiative, and solid admin skills.
What your day could look like
Supporting partners and the wider team
Greeting customers and answering calls
Making appointments
Managing debtors & creditors
Preparing documents for new and existing clients
Assisting with our social media program
Who are we looking for?
Along with being self-motivated, organised, and a team player, ideally you will have:
Great interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
An eye for detail and a high level of accuracy
Brilliant time management skills and the ability to prioritise
Word and Excel skills
Experience in accounting software packages would be beneficial but not essential as training will be provided
